What are your plans over the summer?

Think we might be able to work in some reasonably serious quidditch practice?

I'll be taking a position on the Cannons' practice squad starting next month, but I can't help but think some additional work beyond that would do me good.

I cannot begin to say how sorry I am at all your losses of this week. They've knocked us all topsy-turvy, but I suspect they're effecting you the most. If you need anything, magical workout, hard fly, whatever, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I'll tell Alice this once Dolohov replies, but I've offered to keep working for him part time. Which flies me round to what I've been pondering. Those of us with some level of standing in the Protectorate, basically you and your friends, were clearly positioned to join the Lestrange/Malfoy side of the tangled mess that is Council politics. What do we do now? Who do we try to get close to? Obviously not Mulciber and Nott.

We really should sit down and think through it. I mean, Dolohov isn't a bad choice, really -- he treats Sally-Anne fairly, and he obviously gets on with Justin, and Pans has left a decent impression too.

There's Crouch, which I don't know about, though.

And there's all the sponsors of the contest too. I think once we're all able to meet, Draco can help sort them out more.

I've had a thought about Dolohov. It'd do a couple different things which might have ripples and we'll need to move soon or it won't make sense, which means making a potentially risky decision quickly.

If we and by 'we' I specifically mean those of us who are had been working with Raz, were to ask him to help us with a remembrance rite that somehow make it clear he was our special teacher, we'd be telling him a whole bunch and signalling that we might be interested in being transferred to his team from Raz's. I've seen lots this last year, but I still don't feel like I understand Council politics so I don't know if it's a really good idea or not.

I could see how that might work.

I'll run it by everyone, see what they think, and talk to him at the funeral tomorrow.

We should talk about how to handle Draco's presence in the past. Without knowing what all the investigation revealed and how they are going to jump I don't know what to think.

Dolohov'll assume Draco was involved. Closing ranks without him says one thing. Leaving an extra space in the rite says something else. But with out knowing how Dolohov and the rest of the Council are going to tack in the winds of last weekend, I don't bloody know which to fly ourselves. We might just have to make a guess and just make the best run of it whether or not the snitch is really there.

I think it's one thing to claim he was innocent and another thing to say we miss him, and he'd miss Raz.

Because he does. And we do. You know?

And it's utterly mad to just pretend he didn't ever exist.

I was talking with Draco before about Daphs and Blaise, and whether they should be a part of it too.

I think if we'd be going with Dolohov, it'd be safer to keep it just us, though.

I agree. It's safest with just the same group for this.

But where do we go from here, that's the question. Do we bring in the people it would make sense to bring in, if we were nice loyal citizens of the glorious Protectorate, do we push him and our public image by bringing in the people we know are loyal to us, both or something different? It hurts my head to think like they do, Slytherins, because the right answer is you bring in your loyal friends and then you all hammer at the problem together until it falls before you.

I think we keep Ginny, Sue, Luna, Nev, and Evs in our back pocket. The Galleoners too.

It'd be an enormous stretch for him to take on the Longbottoms. Too suspicious. And I like keeping some things to ourselves.

We should keep Linus at arm's length too. He's too smart by half, we don't want him making connections he shouldn't. He'd tell Professor Dolohov without even thinking about it.

I think we should delay anything other than the rite until we find out what is happening with the Malfoys and ~~if it will splatter~~ how it will effect Dolohov and the rest of that alliance.

I'm so sorry. This is all just so awful.
