Jun. 11th, 2014 10:03 pmI have personal good news. At the meeting this afternoon the Cannons offered me a part time practice squad job, effective July 1st . I'm not yet ready to play in games, but they clearly think I will be at some point and are going to some trouble to keep me contracted to them.
While I'm excited about this opportunity, it is part time and therefore quite low paying. Would you be interested having me continue my current job on a part time basis? Looking at their schedule I figure that I can work for about thirty hours a week. Some of that would be evening hours, but there's no reason I can't work on correspondence and various other matters then. While next year I won't have the same need to be close to what Hogwarts has to offer, I have enjoyed working for you this year and believe I would do so again next year.

Apr. 12th, 2014 10:01 pmI'll be there tomorrow morning after breakfast.
Just a reminder, I have my meeting with Transportation's Healer on Wednesday morning. I'm also scheduled with the Cannons for the first medical evaluation on the 22nd. I'll be gone for most of the day. To manage your expectations, even if I pass my relicensing for Apparition, I know that I am not yet fit flying form to be able to be hired yet. Dad, the best possible result of that evaluation is that they say they are excited to talk to me next month and that things are improving. You know Dralworth is having another terrible season, so there's a tiny sliver of hope.
My exercises continue, so I'll be out very early and back for breakfast. I've also agreed to help a friend of mine every morning. Just last week he got placed on a similar regime as I am on and it would be terrible for him if he stopped over break so I'm going to help keep him on track.

So I'm still recovering, lots of exercises to do, butt that's nothing new. Thank you to everyone who sent cards and well witches wishes (Yes that means you Zach! Just flu before coming over, afternoons generally better than morning)
I hope the leaving feast and train ride back to New London was as wizard as ever for all of you. Congrats to everyone on their NEWTs, OWLs and exams.
As I'm not (and won't be for awhile) up to major outings, I'm not going to be able to make it to any of the Cannons's games this summer. So instead I'm hosting Wizarding Wireless game day listening parties. Plan on there being one for everyc Canon game unless I post otherwise. Starts about an hour before Snitch release, come for food, fun and conversation!

Apr. 26th, 2013 09:56 pmI received a letter from the Cannons today. They are offering me a reserve/practice team position!!!! I'm given to understand it is the league minimum contract, so it won't make me rich, but it's far better than anything else I can see myself doing straight after Hogwarts. Of course it also offers the possibility of advancement, Dralworth did not look good this year I can't see them keeping him on much longer. Or Merlin forbid, an injury.
I'm writing an intent to accept letter, with the proviso that I have two more tryouts in May and will sign definitively before the end of the month. Please keep this yourselves until I have signed off on the final forms.
On other matters, the letter was sent Tuesday I ought to have received it no later than Wednesday breakfast, but it did not reach me until supper today, opened, even the sealed contract. I hope Healer Kerr was in a foul mood when whichever snitch opened it reached him. Just another example of why you need to please write to the Board again, if things continue as they are Hogwarts will be unrecognisable by the time Jaspar attends. This needs to be nipped in the bud NOW.

Apr. 24th, 2013 07:01 pmTwo more copies of V5674936-OGM have been submitted. Two copies of V1138-THX for the recruiting captains to sign in my travelling kit. Oh the changes on the fly that being Head Boy forces, I think I've filled out more Variance forms in the last week than I can count.
Between class, paperwork, revision, paperwork and Head Boy duties I've fallen behind in my personally improving reading.
Melinda, I won't be around the mornings of Saturday May 11th and 25th. We shouldn't need to adjust any prefect schedules for those days, but I won't be around to fill in.

Thank you for the interview this morning. I appreciated the opportunity to interview with you and learn more about your department. I found it very informative and gained an appreciation for all of the important, hard work you and your staff do.
I appreciate your patience in dealing with the stack of paperwork.
I look forward to hearing your decision soon.

Quidditch Season
Mar. 17th, 2013 02:17 pmCongratulations Harry on yet another amazing catch to squeak out a win for Slytherin.
My team, I'm proud of the hard work and dedication you all have shown this year. It's been a hard year with many unusual difficulties. You fought, you struggled and you persevered. I look forward to coming back to watch you all build on what we started this year.
Cheers all!
The ending of my quidditch season brings home just how close I am to being done here at Hogwarts. This has been my home for seven years. There are still three more months, but I'm already feeling nostalgic. The uncertainty of the future looms.

Various Prefect and Quidditch business
Mar. 10th, 2013 09:59 pmJohnson if you could see to your Prefect duties and collar your twin trouble makers, I need to ask them a few pointed questions immediately after lunch tomorrow.
Marvolo and Davies, I'd like to talk to you about Quidditch for a few minutes after that. Johnson if you can stick around for that meeting as well it would be nice.

Quidditch Match
Feb. 16th, 2013 09:25 pmWell I'd hoped my surprise lineup change would be the most startling thing about today's match, but clearly there were other plans. I'd like to meet the other quidditch captains at half eleven tomorrow to discuss today's... result and what it means for determining the quidditch champion. I'm sure we can work out some fair result that acknowledges both the goals scored and the unprecedented nature of the cessation of play. Just count the points score, some fraction of them or possibly a continuance of play at a mutually agreeable later date?
Well played everyone. I'd like to thank my squad for handling the midseason position adjustment so well. Today's score may have been high, but we played well. We'll be even better in the final game of the season.
Good show Gryffindor. I'd specifically like to thank the Twins for making my first game as a chaser a thrilling but dangerous adventure and Ronald for being kind enough allow me to catchup on the ranking list for number of goals in our league.

Feb. 10th, 2013 12:41 pmI'm sure everyone had a charming day yesterday at Hogsmeade. After a bracing walk over, I finished a spot of shopping and had a nice butterbeer.
I've been thinking about how exciting Hogsmeade day is, how mythic the shops are in our minds. The shops in New London are generally bigger and better stocked than those in Hogsmeade, but I don't hear third years talking about them with the same hushed awe as those in Hogsmeade. Is it because we can only go a few times a year, because it's always a group activity, a drawing ley-line running from Hogwarts to Hogsmeade or something even more fantastic?

Hufflepuff Quidditch
Jan. 31st, 2013 10:28 pmNormally I know that our practices are relatively open, but at our next practice, no spectators. No taunting, no tale-carrying.
Team:
We're cross training. Everyone will be playing different positions. We'll be swapping through. It's time to think about what the rest of the team is doing instead of just our own jobs.
We want to avoid certain mistakes we saw in the Slytherin/Ravenclaw game.

Today's events
Jan. 22nd, 2013 11:57 amHufflepuff Prefects, we're having a meeting immediately after dinner. This will be somewhat short as some of us need to get off to Quidditch practice. The RSs will lead warm ups until we arrive.
I will be either in the library or the Hufflepuff common room all day until supper, if any prefects or students need me.
I've said it before and I will say it again. The prefects are here to help students with any problems they are having. Dealing with the necessary loss of someone you considered a friend can be traumatic. If anyone needs to talk through the friendly deception of traitors, we are available. If anyone has any memories of the traitor Fleet that they might feel they ought to report to the authorities, please come to me and I will pass this along to the proper authorities at a time convenient to them rather than a stream of students interrupting their important work.
Also please keep frivolous visits to the infirmary to a minimum as Professor Dolohov is still convalescing. Of course true medical emergencies should still report promptly.

Slytherin/Ravenclaw Quidditch
Jan. 19th, 2013 06:22 pmWell played all. It was exciting and instructive to see the players who make up the future of quidditch here at Hogwarts get time on the pitch in front of everyone.
Hufflepuff quidditchers, if you have any interest in securing my recommendation to Professor Sprout as my successor in the captaincy, please give me a written analysis of today's game before our practice next Saturday. Focus on the players you think are likely to be starters next year (tell me why you think they are likely starters as well. Did Harry make the right choice to catch the snitch when he did? Did Ms Chang's play force him to make the losing catch? How would you decide between Mr Crabbe & Mr Goyle and Mr Derwent & Mr Croaker for the beater positions? How would you prepare our side to play either of the teams of likely starters you identified? and any other pertinent analysis you might wish to make. I like to see this analysis in writing before our practice session next Saturday.

Jan. 14th, 2013 12:54 amCould we talk about Quidditch? Specifically what you think my chances of going pro are. If you have any advice about my final two games of the year for impressing the scouts (I'm not asking to for an advantage over Slytherin! Just in relation to the scouts) or if you think I'd have a better chance at open try outs. Is there someone still working inside the game you might recommend I write to?
I also wanted to find a time to get a bit more practice in on the most recent assignment. Something seems to not work right for me, I don't know if it's wand work, the incantation or something else, but I feel fuzzyheaded after casting it which I'm sure is not an acceptable side effect for a spell cast mid duel. Let me know if you just want me to show up at your next office hours or if you'd rather I come by some other time.

Well, I think we all had fun today, or as much fun as cleaning can ever be.
I led them all in many rousing rounds of quidditch fan chants. It almost made up for missing Open Flying. Though if I find out who taught firsties the ... umm... shall we say 'alternate' lyrics to Holyhead Rules the Roost, I'll have some choice words for them. Chanting really makes repetitive work go faster. It's so nice to be of service to others who are less fortunate and need assistance.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the Slytherin vs Ravenclaw match next weekend.

Thanks to everyone who showed up again this week. Green side ruled! I trust everyone on red side had fun even though they got trounced.
I hope we broke in time for everyone to get to their parties. May everyone's Twelfth Night be fine and festive.
See you all back at Hogwarts next week for an excellent second term!
