One of those damnable letters arrived at their shop. They grabbed what stock they could and ran.
He's blaming himself for helping us. We'll look like we've fallen off the broom if we don't help those who've helped us.

Date: 2015-05-23 02:13 pm (UTC)Cedric, once he's back, send him to speak with me, if he's willing. I've lost the Hope Emporium, so I can sympathise. And Fred and George can speak with him, too.
It might help a little if he knows he's not alone in this at least, and we can discuss what steps the family might need to take next.

Date: 2015-05-23 11:44 pm (UTC)Mrs Macmillan was taken for 're-education' back at the start of the Protector's regime, and when they heard yesterday that their business had been seized--well, they immediately feared she would be taken again, or worse. In that light, the great house they'd had from the Population Rewards scheme seemed supremely unsafe, and they beat a hasty retreat to his family home-fast in Scotland.
I've urged them to message us if there's any help we can provide. I think for now they simply want to keep their heads down and avoid trouble if they can. They're quite worried for Ernie, and I won't be surprised if they pressure him to join them in hiding. I'm not certain what Mr Macmillan will choose in that case, but I couldn't fault him were he to choose a retreat to hearth and home.
